Kindergarten Registration Begins Feb. 22-23; Preschool Registration Open Now
Kindergarten registration for 2017-18 will take place February 22 and February 23 at the child’s neighborhood elementary school (9am-3pm). All D181 parents also have the option of attending evening kindergarten registration at Prospect School on Wednesday, February 22 (5:30-7:30pm). Registration for returning students entering Grades 1-8 is slated to begin after spring break. We are now enrolling 2017-18 registrants for our three and four year-old D181 Preschool program. Preschool registration is accepted at Oak School during school hours. Space is limited; registrants are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Community Invited to February 28 Heroin Education Event
We are hosting a Heroin Education event on Tuesday, February 28 at Hinsdale Middle School (7-9pm). D181 families and residents from all neighboring communities are welcome. The evening will include information on the heroin epidemic in DuPage County, signs and symptoms of addiction, early intervention strategies, current local statistics, and information on what is being done to address this issue locally. The event will conclude with the personal story of a D181 family who dealt with addiction challenges. This event is not recommended for elementary-age children. Simplify Summer Planning with the D181 Summer Camp Expo (March 9)
All community members are invited to the annual D181 Summer Camp Expo, taking place Thursday, March 9 at Prospect School (6-8:30pm). This is a one-stop-shop to meet with exhibitors one-on-one and learn about local and regional overnight camps, sports camps, fine arts programs, science and educational camps, recreation activities, and more. New exhibitors are added every year. Children are welcome, and no registration is needed. Click here for flyer.

5th Grade IEP/504 Parent Event Scheduled for March 14
If you have a 5th grade child with an IEP or 504 Plan, join us for the event “Transitioning into Middle School with an IEP or 504.” The program will include a panel discussion on the District’s continuum of services, classes, and level of support. We will also discuss what parents can do to help their child through this transition process.
