Best of the Nest!
Dear wonderful CHMS Families, As you may recall, our amazing PTO sponsors our staff appreciation award, the “Best of the Nest” with a premium parking spot for the winner! Staff members nominate each other based on who has inspired you, who is making you a better staff member, making your day more enjoyable, doing great things for kids, consistently in your corner, and implementing innovative strategies in the building. This award continues to demonstrate the inspiring, kind, and giving staff we have here at CHMS. The incredible words that are written toward each other in response to the thoughtful actions taken are inspirational. This month, Ms. Jillian Mackey (Math Teacher) was our lucky parking spot winner! A few comments shared about her were: |
" Jillian is always student centered and going above and beyond to make sure students are being successful. She inspires me to always be reflective on my teaching and try to do better. Her passion for math motivates me to push my own limits and strive for excellence. " |
Congratulations again to Ms. Mackey and all of our nominated staff members! |

Message from the Nurse
Dear CHMS Families,
It is the time of year for cold and flu symptoms. Of course, some of these are unavoidable. Here are some tips to remember to help prevent illness and keep everyone feeling healthy:
- REST: Get plenty of sleep. School age children should get 9-12 hours of sleep each night.
- WASH HANDS: Washing your hands is the best defense against illness. Wash hands frequently using soap and warm water. If soap and water are unavailable use hand sanitizer.
- EAT HEALTHY: Eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
- COVER YOUR COUGH: Cough or sneeze into your elbow. Keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth. Wash hands after blowing your nose. Do not share food or drinks.
- DRESS APPROPRIATELY: Exercise and fresh air during recess/ lunch is very important. Please dress your child appropriately for cold weather.
- STAY HOME: Stay home when sick.
Please call your child's school nurse with any concerns or questions you may have. Have a safe and healthy winter!

We’re Almost There, But We Need Your Help!
The Soaring Eagles Fundraiser is gaining momentum, and we’re getting closer to reaching our goal! We have received so many generous donations from parents, community members, and local businesses alike. We’re thrilled with the progress so far, but we're not quite there yet.
If you’ve already contributed, thank you for your generosity! And if you haven’t had a chance, now’s the perfect time to jump in. This fundraiser is as simple as it gets—just click the link below and choose the amount that works best for you. Every single dollar directly supports the teachers and students at our school.
Stay tuned for the remainder of the month for raffles and chances to win great items from local businesses.
One last note, if you’d like to contribute but don’t have a Membership Toolkit account, we gladly accept checks. Just contact the PTO to arrange the details. And if you’re a small business, we’d love to collaborate with you! Partner with us to make an even bigger impact on our school community.
We’re so close, but we still need your help to cross the finish line. Every donation—no matter the size—helps us get there.
